What We Do

The mission of the Robert C. Padgett Jr. Memorial Chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart is to foster an environment of goodwill and camaraderie among Combat Wounded Veterans, promote patriotism, support necessary legislative initiatives, and most importantly, provide service to all Veterans and their families in the Northeast Florida area.

Our Programs

Veterans Assistance

In partnership with the Department of Florida, MOPH Chapter 524 provides assistance to at risk or in need Veterans in the local area. If a Vet needs a hand up the members of our Chapter are there and eager to help.

VAVS Program

Veteran Affairs Voluntary Services. The Order has volunteers throughout the Country, who donate their time at VA Facilities to assist Veterans. In 2006, the Order donated almost 96 thousand hours to the VA (The Ladies Auxiliary donated an additional 18 thousand hours). This saves the VA from hiring approximately 65 full time employees.

Americanism Program

The purpose of the Americanism Program is to work with schools and other organizations to help promote U.S. history and the quest for freedom.

Purple Heart Trail Program

The Purple Heart Trail was established in 1992 by the Military Order of the Purple Heart to be a symbolic trail throughout all 50 states to commemorate and honor all men and women who have been wounded or killed in combat while serving in the U.S. armed forces.

Jacksonville, Florida is a Purple Heart City and was designated as such in order to create an honorary tribute to the local men and women who were awarded the Purple Heart medal for spilling their blood or sacrificing their lives in the service of our Great Nation.

Youth Activities Program

The Military Order of the Purple Heart's Youth Programs are focused on fostering patriotism and good citizenship among America's youth. We recognize outstanding leadership in cadets and midshipmen through the Senior and Junior ROTC programs in the United States and Department of Defense Dependant Schools worldwide.
